Dugong Island at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium is home to some of our most unique and fascinating marine creatures.
The star of the exhibit is Pig the Dugong. Pig was rescued from the wild after being orphaned and could not be returned to the ocean. Today, he is a much-loved ambassador for his species, helping guests learn more about dugongs, the threats they face in the wild, and the importance of protecting seagrass meadows — their favourite food! You can see Pig gliding gracefully through his ocean home from both above the surface and in our underwater viewing tunnels.
Alongside Pig, you’ll also find:
White-Spotted Eagle Rays – elegant rays that soar through the water.
Bamboo Sharks – small but fascinating bottom-dwelling sharks.
Zebra Sharks – named for their stripes as juveniles, which change into spots as they grow.
A variety of tropical fish species – adding colour and life to the reef environment.
A visit to Dugong Island is not only a chance to meet Pig, but also to discover the incredible diversity of marine life that share his home.
